Ahead of its planned convention, one of the two aspirants for the Standard Bearer-ship of the Unity Party has officially withdrawn his membership from the party.
According Dr. Toga McIntosh, his decision is based on several factors including what he called the gross disrespect and disregard for partisans.
This latest pronouncement by the Dr. McIntosh means that Vice President Joseph Boakai may likely contest on a white ballot in planned Gbarnga convention.
Dr. McIntosh recently submitted to the party’s leadership a letter of objection to the appointments of the Chair and Co-chair persons of the convention elections committee.
In his objection letter, McIntosh alleged that the chair and co-chair were supporters of his competitor Vice President Joseph Boakai which he said needed urgent redress.
He noted that to his utmost disappointment, his claim has neither been acknowledged nor re-acted to by anyone within the leadership of the party.
McIntosh pointed out that, the continuous indifference in addressing partisans’ concerns signifies that any member of the party aggrieved can simply walk away with no care.
Meanwhile, Dr. McIntosh has stated that his desire and commitment to be a variable candidate for the 2017 presidential elections remains resolute than ever before.
He asserted that he is currently consulting with key actors in coming up with his next political course of action.
